Getting Started
We encourage you to contact a program representative at 855-801-5803 who can guide you through the application process. You can also e-mail us at energysavepa@clearesult.com.
If a participant receives an application acknowledgement, their place in the queue will be saved. However, if a participant does not respond to requests for additional information within 10 business days, their application may be voided or moved to the back of the processing queue.
For large, multi-phase projects, you must submit an application for each energy efficiency upgrade project (e.g., Lighting, HVAC, Custom, etc.). All incentives are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. The project pre-approval letter defines terms for incentive payment and a commitment expiration date unless an extension is granted by the program administrator.
Please refer to the “How Do I Apply For Incentives?" section of each Program page for a list of required documents.
No, you may submit an application before you become a Program Ally.

The Lighting Incentive Program is designed to support equipment and controls that can save energy (kWh). Equipment must be new, code compliant and must result in a reduction in electrical energy usage. LED equipment must be ENERGY STAR</span>® <span> rated (www.energystar.gov) or listed by the Design Lights Consortium (DLC) (www.designlights.org). Fluorescent lamps must appear on the current Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) Qualifying Products list (www.cee1.org) or meet the CEE “High-Performance” specifications. T-8 fluorescent lighting equipment will be considered the baseline for all existing T-12 fluorescent lighting equipment. Please see the lighting incentive program webpage for more details.
Project pre-approval is estimated to take 14 days after a complete application package is received by the program. Applications are acknowledged upon receipt with an email response. If the participant has not received an acknowledgment of application receipt within five business days of submission, contact a program representative at energysavepa@clearesult.com; or call 855-801-5803. Once a project is finished, a complete application package with proof of purchase is received by the Program Administrator and final approval is granted, a check will be issued within approximately 30 business days.
Yes, the program is open to all commercial, industrial, not-for-profit and governmental customers of FirstEnergy's Pennsylvania utilities.
Program eligibility for mixed-use buildings depends on the meter type. For instance, if a multifamily building with a first-floor commercial retail space has a commercial meter, then that retail space as well as the building's common areas would be eligible for program incentives.
Please refer to the individual program pages on the website for incentive limitations.
No, incentives are for electrical energy savings only.

Yes, customers of FirstEnergy's Pennsylvania utilities can still receive incentives, even if their projects were funded by a grant source or other utility programs.
Please consult your tax advisor. Incentives received by the participant may be taxable at the federal, state or local level. Participants are responsible for declaring and paying any taxes.
Pre-Approval
For projects submitted for pre-approval, applicants are given 90 days from the pre-approval date to complete the installation, as noted on the pre-approval letter. However, if installation schedules are delayed, contact your program representative at energysavepa@clearesult.com.
Project scope often changes during installation. If changes occur after a pre-approval is issued, contact your program representative at energysavepa@clearesult.com.
If the installed equipment meets the program requirements, the incentive will be paid. If the installed equipment does not meet the program requirements, no incentive will be paid. Final incentive payment will be based on the “as-built” documentation provided with the final application. If your project scope increases during construction, your incentive may increase if funding is available. There is no guarantee of additional funds for projects that increase in size after pre-approval. We encourage you to contact us as early in the process as possible to see if any modifications are eligible for incentives.
Misc.
The cost of energy efficiency programs are recovered through customer rates in accordance with PA Act 129 of 2008. Pennsylvania's Act 129, requires Pennsylvania's largest electric distribution companies (EDCs) to develop energy efficiency and conservation (EE&C) plans and adopt methods of reducing electric consumption and peak demand. Act 129 provides Pennsylvania businesses, governments and non-profits opportunities to take energy efficiency and conservation to the next level through incentive programs.
The current incentive programs are scheduled to end May 31, 2021, or when incentive funds are fully committed, whichever happens first.
Please refer to the last page of the online application form for the program terms and conditions or click here. You may also contact a program representative at any time for clarification or with questions at energysavepa@clearesult.com.
